Established by James Gilbert in 1881, the business originally concentrated on weaving wire for sieves, security guards, screens, bird cages and decorative wire furniture. The daughter of James Gilbert inherited the business from her brother in 1937. Her husband Tony Wareham then took over. In the 1980's the focus moved to woven brass and decorative grilles.
In 2005, with new management bringing fresh investment, the company was brought firmly into the 21st century. Whilst continuing to manufacture woven mesh and decorative grilles, the company's capabilities and product base were broadened and output increased to enable work on larger projects such as the James Bond and Harry Potter films, and provide interior and architectural decorative metalwork for fit-outs of some of the largest and most famous buildings in the country. Whilst we are more than happy to help with small domestic projects, we are also proud to have been involved in the complete refurbishment and remodelling of the Harrods food halls, the restoration of the Hippodrome in Leicester Square and a large number of Great Britain's finest Hotels, restaurants and historic buildings.
