Linear Grilles

Linear grilles are a smart and simple solution which can be used in walls, ceilings and floors. Typically used as ventilation and air conditioning grilles, they're available in core materials including solid brass, aluminium or stainless steel. Their flowing horizontal lines give these vent grilles their linear name and they are available in a range of finishes including polished, patinated (e.g. antiqued, bronzed) or powder coated to any RAL colour.

LINEAR GRILLES FOR CEILINGS

The rectangular spaces between the flat metal bars give the linear grille a sleek, open appearance. When this type of air grille is used in ceilings and walls, the lighter version, which uses 3mm wide bars with 10mm spaces is generally used. This creates long thin 10mm spaced rectangular holes between the visible edge of the strips making them perfect for AC units. In these applications the grilles are most often pre-fitted with their own frames, which are then held in place with structural adhesive if it is unlikely that they will need to be removed, or screws / spring clips if removal is required. Screws are usually advised if they are to be fitted into a ceiling. Spring clips are especially suited to wall fittings over air conditioning and climate control ducts.

LINEAR GRILLES FOR FLOORS

When linear grilles are prescribed to fit in floors they can be done so with or without frames, using gravity to hold them in place in the rebate provided by the trench heating unit. These vent grilles are generally produced using 6mm wide bars with 6mm spaces in between each bar, or vane. These heavier versions can also be fitted in walls and ceilings if their aesthetic appearance is preferred.

LINEAR GRILLES FOR WALLS

These air grilles are usually made with 3mm bars with 10mm spaces. They can be fitted either horizontally or vertically in a wall. The construction of the linear grille itself can be done in two ways; either with the long metal strips running lengthways along the greater dimension of the grille, or a greater number of shorter strips running width-ways across the shorter dimension of the grille.

FINISHES

All of these combinations are available in all of our special finishes. Brass linear air grilles are the most popular and brass forms the base material of many of the other finishes. If a more economic version is required then we can make aluminium linear grilles which can be supplied in their bare aluminium metal finish or powder coated any colour. Stainless steel grilles are a new addition to our air conditioning range.
