About Us - The History of James Gilbert & Son.
Established by James Gilbert in 1881, the business originally concentrated on weaving wire for sieves, security guards, screens, bird cages and decorative wire furniture. The daughter of James Gilbert inherited the business from her brother in 1937. Her husband Tony Wareham then took over. In the 1980's the focus moved to woven brass.
In 2005, with further investment, the company was brought firmly into the 21st century. Whilst continuing to manufacture woven mesh and decorative grilles, the company's capabilities and product base were broadened and output increased to enable work on larger projects such as the latest James Bond films and to facilitate expansion in the area of interior metalwork.
Now celebrating our 128th year, James Gilbert & Son are proud to be expanding again.
